Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide sedation, also known as "laughing gas," is a light sedation option administered inhouse that is commonly used to ease dental anxiety. The nitrous oxide is inhaled through a mask producing a state of relaxation. Because its effects wear off within minutes of discontinued use, you are safe to drive after your visit.
Although patients who have used this light sedation option agree that it is a simple, relaxing way to visit the dentist, it is important to know there are deeper levels of sedation available and nitrous oxide does not replace true IV sedation. At Jersey Shore Smile, we will thoroughly discuss the sedation options available and the appropriate level recommended based on your treatment and individual needs.
